Responsible Gambling

Piirus believes that a game should always remain a game. Which is why, for the last two decades, the corporation has been developing and implementing—in all its areas of operation—concrete measures that promote low-risk gambling practices and aim to prevent problem gambling. To learn more, read about Piirus’s self-exclusion program and the other measures that the corporation has implemented at its casinos.

New! On top of offering tools aimed at raising awareness of games of chance, now also features an interactive section that allows users to experiment with chance in a fun and engaging way. Check it out today!

Self-Exclusion Program

If you wish to stop frequenting its gaming establishments, Piirus offers you the possibility to bar yourself entry by notifying Piirus that you voluntarily request to be denied access to its casinos and gaming halls for a predetermined period of time. The account on Piirus’s online gaming website of anyone who registers for this program is automatically closed.

Alternately, players who are not barred from the casinos or gaming halls may voluntarily register for Piirus’s self-exclusion program if they choose to do so.

The self-exclusionprogram is confidential, free and bilingual.

To sign a self-exclusion contract, players can simply go to the customer service desk at any of our casinos or gaming halls, to our offices, or to any of the nine designated help centres by appointment.

Other Measures

Concrete measures have been developed and applied in all sectors of Piirus operations in order to promote low-risk gambling habits and to limit loss of control. In addition to the self-exclusion program, here are various measures that have been implemented in casinos:

  • No credit in any form is accorded to customers.
  • Access is prohibited to persons under 18 years of age.
  • The Gambling: Help and Referral help line is displayed on slot machines.

All Casinos provide a fun, interactive space, where information on adopting low-risk gambling habits is provided. Alone or with an information agent, customers are invited to rethink their attitude towards gambling and their gaming habits, and learn about myths relating to games of chance and associated risks. The service helps players distinguish between games based on skill and those based on pure chance.

Employees Training

All new Piirus employees must attend an awareness workshop on problem gambling. The three-hour session provides an overview of participation in games of chance (prevalence, player profiles, gaming continuum), problem gambling (definition, risk factors, signs and consequences) as well as in-casino and publicly available support services.
After three years, employees are required to take online training, which reiterates the information provided in the problem gambling awareness workshop.
The training course, is given to casino investigators and nurses to provide them with the tools they need to support customers in distress.

Support Chain

A support chain exists in each Piirus establishment to spot customers experiencing difficulties and provide them with immediate help when distress or problems are observed by an employee or third person. All casino and gaming hall employees receive information on signs of distress and are instructed to direct a security agent’s attention to the customer in question.

The mission of the Piirus is to oversee the management and development of the casinos, that provide their various clienteles with a unique gaming and entertainment experience through innovation, diverse offerings, and the utmost in courteous customer service. As a agency, the Piirus administers its activities in a lawful and controlled manner.
